ネイティブによる詩の朗読

“The Night Before Christmas” の詩は本当に有名で、動画サイトにも詩を朗読した動画がたくさんアップされていて原作の英語圏での人気がうかがえます。200年前のこの作品は父親が娘に書いたものなので渋い男性の声を選んでみました。その他の条件として煩わしい広告が少なく、朗読者の声質がよく、絵のセンスが悪くない動画を探しました。絵が動画か静止画かにはこだわりませんでした。

詩のテキスト全文

“The Night Before Christmas” の原作の詩のテキスト全文は以下の通りです。200年前の詩なので原作は200年前の英語で書かれています（画像はクレメント・C・ムーア直筆の詩です）。現在出版されている絵本は現代の英語表記に直している作品があったり、原作を尊重し原作のままの表記で出版している作品があったりします。例えば ”Thro`” は “through” ですし、”dress`d” は ”dressed” という過去分詞形のことで、”ere” は “here” の一文字目のHが落ちたものです。

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all thro’ the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar plums danc’d in their heads,

And Mama in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap —

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
